Dichloromethane impregnation test is an important test of PVC-U pipes. It is used to characterize the degree of plasticization degree and homogeneity of pipes.

The plasticization degree of pipes will directly effect the long-term hydrostatic performance and has a directly impact on the service life of pipes. Different standard has different testing requirements of pipes.

Devices:No.800 sandpaper    constant temperature water tank    timer    stainless steel container

Sample:cut the at least 100mm pipe section from the pipe material, under the condition that the material is not heated as far as possible, carefully using the right-angle turning tool to cut sample fracture surface, then using No.800 sandpaper to gently polish, make the fracture surface smooth and flat.

Test steps:pour dichloromethane into the container, the sample should be immersed in a depth of least 30mm. Distilled water is slowly added to the container to form a 20mm thick water seal on dichloromethane.

Pour the container into the constant temperature water container, adjust the temperature, when the temperature of dichloromethane reaches 20±0.5℃, the sample is immersed in the container on the grid or suspended in dichloromethane. The immersed depth of the sample should not be less than 30mm. The fracture surface of the sample should be immersed in the solution.

The sample is immersed for 20mm at constant temperature. Take the sample out from the container and make it dry 15min. The inner, outer and fracture surfaces of the sample are inspected with naked eyes. Using tape measure and vernier caliper to test inner and outer surfaces and the damaged length of cross section. Record all change conditions.
